The American Association of University Women is a powerful network of educated women. With more than 100,000 members nationwide, it is a powerful voice promoting equity for women and girls, lifelong education, and positive societal change.
AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation in this organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, or disability. The only requirement for full membership is that you be “a graduate holding an associate or equivalent . . . degree from a qualified educational institution.”
Qualified institutions include all “educational institutions that offer recognized associate, baccalaureate, or higher degrees and that have full regional or appropriate professional association approval.” AAUW also has student affiliate memberships.
The best way to join AAUW is to join a local branch. For a list of branches in the state and the name of an officer to contact in that branch, go to the roster of state branches. If you prefer to become a member-at-large, you may join AAUW of Alabama and the national Association.
